# Governance

> Optional data-control capabilities without exposing internal engines as the user model.

# Governance

Governance is an optional **data-control capability**, not a standalone compliance platform.

Users define intent:

Is the data sensitive?
How should it be protected?
May it be delivered?
What happens when a rule is violated?
```

The runtime applies Protection, Classification, Policy, Quarantine, and Replay behavior without requiring operators to think in terms of internal engine names.

## Current operational surfaces

The current Web UI includes governance Dashboard, Operations, Violations, Quarantine, Audit, Approvals, Replay, Notifications, and Governance Workspace routes.

## Route-aware behavior

A shared/default intent can belong to the Stream configuration while effective destination-specific behavior is Route-aware.

## Important limits

* Governance Workspace is a read-only MVP for some workflows.
* The Workspace fan-out pattern scales as multiple API calls per Route and is not the preferred daily fleet dashboard at high route counts.
* SMTP notification delivery is disabled until SMTP is configured.
