# DataRelay Control

> Collect enterprise data, process it per route, apply protection and policy, and deliver it to one or more destinations.

# DataRelay Control

DataRelay Control is a source-available **Enterprise Data Control Gateway** implemented in [`datarelay-labs/datarelay-control`](https://github.com/datarelay-labs/datarelay-control).

It participates directly in the data flow: it collects data, transforms it, applies route-specific protection and policy, records delivery results, and sends one Stream through one or many Routes to one or many Destinations.

See [hands-on use cases](https://control.datarelay.run/use-cases/index.md) to implement 14 practical workflows with input values and verification.

> [!NOTE]

> The product repository identifies the release line as **GA v1.0.2** in its README and changelog. [Release Status](https://control.datarelay.run/reference/release-status.md) separately shows what is backed by an immutable Git tag. Development documentation follows `main-v2` and clearly marks behavior that has not yet been proven in a release.

## What it solves

DataRelay Control lets operators configure and monitor enterprise data flows in one place without building a separate source pipeline for every destination.

```mermaid theme={null}
flowchart LR
  S[Source] --> ST[Stream]
  ST --> R1[Route A]
  ST --> R2[Route B]
  R1 --> P1[Transform / Protect / Policy]
  R2 --> P2[Transform / Protect / Policy]
  P1 --> D1[Destination A]
  P2 --> D2[Destination B]
```

A Stream owns execution and source progress. A Route owns destination-specific processing and delivery.

## What the current product includes

* connectors, credentials, sources, Streams, Routes, and Destinations
* Mapping and Enrichment, presented in the UI as Transform
* route-specific Protection, Classification, Policy, Quarantine, and Replay
* Dashboard, Stream runtime views, delivery results, checkpoints, and audit
* local users, roles, JWT sessions, and RBAC-protected operator and governance screens
* backup, restore, upgrade, health, and troubleshooting workflows
* Marketplace/package management, safe-change preview, connector/API health, test-before-apply, and environment promotion available on the current development branch

## Product boundary

DataRelay Control is not a VPN, generic remote-management tool, SASE platform, SIEM, SOAR, data lake, enterprise IAM system, ticketing system, or AI-agent platform.

It is also **not a centralized manager for DataRelay Link**. The current Control source does not implement Link registration, heartbeat, policy delivery, state synchronization, or a shared management protocol. See [DataRelay Link relationship](https://control.datarelay.run/getting-started/data-relay-link.md).

## License

DataRelay Control is **Source Available, not Open Source**. The repository `LICENSE` file controls the legal terms. Current permitted use includes personal, research/evaluation, internal commercial use, permitted internal modification, and customer-owned deployment. Productization, resale/OEM, white-labeling, competing products, and SaaS/MSP/hosted offerings require a separate written commercial license.
